Black Parents Aging Podcast

Apr 21, 2021

You can still remember the days when you and your siblings were young kids. Didn't it seem like those times would last forever? Now, though, you’re all adults with older parents. Your brother or sister may be in denial about your parent’s state but now you need them to step in with caregiving or expenses.

How do you begin to talk to your siblings about your aging parents?

The perfect time to hold a family meeting is when you start seeing signs of your parents either slowing down or looking like they’ll need help. When setting your family meeting, it should come from a place of love, and the earlier you start having these conversations, the better.

In this episode, Nicola talks about:

  • Some of the topics that can be discussed during such meetings.
  • How to fairly assign responsibilities to your siblings as far as your aging parents’ welfare is concerned.
  • And so much more!
