Black Parents Aging Podcast

Dec 2, 2020

As our loved ones grow older, it gets to a point where some adjustments need to be made to their living spaces. Not only will their safety be guaranteed, but also their changing needs met. If your aging loved ones intend to stay where they currently are staying for as long as possible,  then these adjustments will be necessary to enhance their ability to care for themselves and also prevent any accidents from occurring.

In today’s episode, Olivia discusses the nitty-gritty that one needs to pay attention to. From the floor, to the stairs, to the kitchen, and even the people they interact with! You’d be surprised that some of the things you took lightly can make your aging loved ones’ living space unsafe! By adding just a few inexpensive items and removing the unnecessary ones, the home becomes a safe space regardless of the age of its inhabitants.

In a nutshell, she covers:

  • How to prevent the fall and fire risk in the home of your aging loved one(s).
  • Why you should protect your loved ones from people that may want to take advantage of them.
  • How to communicate and engage with your loved ones to get an idea of what their safety concerns are.
  • and so much more!
